About company
Adio was founded in 1998 (Carlsbad, California) by retired professional skateboarder and Planet Earth Skateboards owner Chris Miller. Planet launched in 1990 and the first expansion to the Planet Earth roster came in 1997 with the inception of Adio Footwear. Miller become friend with Jamie Thomas, who told about frustrations with his shoe sponsor at the time and how he wanted to work with a company that would allow him more control of his footwear designs. Thomas and Miller soon learned that Steve Berra and Jeremy Wray were both shoe sponsor-less, and a discussion about launching a new brand developed. Thomas, Berra, and Wray joined Jose Gomez, Jeff Taylor, and Miller in developing the Adio Footwear concept. Adio officially launched in 1998, and in just under a decade has become one of the top five footwear brands in action sports. Although Thomas and Berra have moved on to other projects, the Adio team is exploding with talent (Tony Hawk signed on shortly after the brand launched).
