Real Skateboards was born in 1991. In late 1990 Tommy parted ways with Powell to start up his own company, Real Skateboards with his good friend Jim Thiebaud. The idea would be simple and perfect in simplicity. A genuine skateboard company run by skaters to forward the progression of Real skateboarding for Real skateboarders. With strong individuals in the front that dream was realized by such skaters as Tommy Guerrero, Jim Thiebaud, James Kelch, Salman Agah, Max Schaaf, and Keith Hufnagel, passed in to the future with skaters like Dennis Busenitz, Darrell Stanton, Peter Ramondetta, and J.T. Aultz. In 1993 artist Todd Francis moved to San Francisco and began working for Deluxe, where he helped create graphics with Jim Thiebaud and Tommy Guerroro for Real Skateboards. Past members of Real were: Mark Gonzales, Cairo Foster, Nate Jones, Coco Santiago, and Matt Field.
